Work involves the built outcomes, fountainheads, oddities, failures, and lost opportunites of design over commissions undertaken by smallprojects.

Their categorisation comes by way of the prevailing principles/s at the time which served as foundations for the design of the project during the conception of the related work. Projects for each section are generally organised in relation to year built.

In summary, the work all began with the safari roof buildings, an idea coming from an aluminium sheet fixed to the top of Series III Land Rovers from the early seventies, designed as the means to insulate the body of the vehicle from direct heat gain. The gardenshell projects take on the philosophical underpinnings concerning the effects of time passing on the man made surface as the default byproduct and expression of external architectural aesthetics.

The lightwell house is the crash test dummy that is also home, where many of the experiments that become projects finds first expression: it is where details and their development take shape in constructed form. The section on small projects refers specifically to those which are actually small, in unmetaphorical reference to size rather than philosophical treatise. The work here spans the diverse range from conference and dining tables to chaise longues and mailboxes; workstations and bathware,

to audio highfidelity isolation, shower screens, and kitchen furniture.

The windfunnel buildings began with the problem of constrained contexts of limited elevational opportu-nity, such as that found in intermediate rowhouse lots, short in both front or back faces, but long and walled on the sides to result of a problem in bringing light and ventilation into its depth. Given an appropriate prevailing direction of wind for any one particular site and subsequent pressure build on the windward side, the enclosure of architecture could be appropriately manipulated in order to direct airflow through a primary room funnel of the house, in allowing the smaller side rooms to piggyback off the primary effects of cross ventilate experienced by the main funnel. Catalyst/inceptors are precisely what they are as named, those projects which gave primary idea to projects which later followed, while anomalies are those odd projects which could not find any category with what was already there, in being either specifically designed for very different climates or contexts, or having underlying concept of use too unique to have had reapplication.

Fiascos document the projects considered failures on account of being badly designed or styled, and misses, all the ones which could have resulted in work to feel good about, but for one reason or other never went ahead.
