refurbishment and guesthouse addition.
The owners of an existing gracious two storey bungalow had decided the older original layout did not quite match the needs of flexibility required of modern living. The existing house and its large fruit tree in the front lawn served as a base around which the overhang house was designed.
Additional rooms were added to the main body without major construction gymnastics and the existing roof was extended as an overhang to shade a tall verandah and to create a plunging roofline for directed views from the garden facing bedrooms.
A concrete shell for a guesthouse was built across from the main house, hung over the new six car garage below and part of a larger entertainment deck for the garden and pool area; an overhang pavilion and house designed for quiet drinks, barbeques, pyjama parties and the occasional hangover.
