The gardengate was designed as a garden porch, the provision of a formal entry and street presence for the loftoffice, located as it was back from the main road and hidden from view.
It took the form of a black steel mesh cage suspended over cast insitu concrete cantilevered steps.
The operable sections of the gate came in two parts; a tall vertical side pivoted security door with swingarms which opened in tandem with a lower horizontal trapdoor: when opened, the trapdoor pivots to a vertical plane, functioning as a mesh handrail for safety.
