semi detached house renovation.
The brickwall house was a further experiment in common clay brick, reconfiguring street boundaries and courtyards and bringing definition to the asian show wet kitchen.
The existing clay tiled roof was maintained and extended in a cantilever over the broad face of the front entry wall; reference made to the long blade thin porches of village workshops in malaysia.
At the head of a main courtyard is an open asian kitchen, located as a comment on the traditionally marginalized local wet kitchen, essential but effectively hidden from view. Emotively, the design restores the act of cooking to its domestic and soul centre.
