mild steel.

This mailbox was designed to address the concerns of weather in a tropical monsoon climate.

The idea began with the observation that the typical malaysian mailbox was flawed: it was either massive in a pillbox gravestone sort of way, or it was halfway acceptable in looks but leaked like a sieve due to the inherent problems faced by its dual access; one at the front with shallow drop-in lid and another at the rear with a pitiful casement type aluminium door: the wind and downpour of monsoon rains would inevitably find a way in.

The tropical monsoon mailbox solves the problem with a single steel drip lid hinged and sealed at the rear with a hood which extends deep up front. Drain channels on each side of the compartment takes care of spray when the wind blows wild.
