monsoon mailbox
mild steel.
The monsoon mailbox came
about to address the concerns
of a hot wet climate.
The idea began with observation
that typical malaysian mailboxes
were somewhat flawed in design:
they were either massive in a
gravestone sort of way or were
halfway presentable in looks but
leaked water due to a problem
inherent to its dual access; one
at the front with shallow drop-in
lid and the other at the rear with
a pitiful casement type lid: the
wind and downpour of monsoon
rains inevitably find a way in.
The tropical monsoon mailbox
solves the problem with a single
drip lid capping the top, hinged
and shaded at its rear with a
hood that extends deep up front.
Drain channels each side of the
compartment take care of errant
spray when the wind blows wild.
