pivotgate
mild steel.
Driveway gates in Malaysia
commonly find design having
the grace of buffalos: heavily
cantilevered, hinge-wearing
and just plain clumsy, they
have a disrespectful manner
of swinging straight into the
path of whomever just rang
the doorbell.
The pivot gate was designed
as a gracious alternative to
the conundrum.
Created from steel angles
and expanded steel mesh for
panel infills, each gate half
pivots on vertically aligned
posts, allowing the wide sides
of the opening gate to permit
the passage of a motorcar,
and on its short sides, that of
entering guests. appropriately
keeping visitors to the side
of the driveway upon entry.
