mule system workstation

common plywood and mild steel.

The mule system workstation
was originally designed for the
BritishIndia headquarters as
solution for electrical needs in
the modern office - long gone
were the days of single sockets
for each workstation to power
the solitary pencil sharpener

The solution lay in routing main
cable lines to the workstation
in a way that had them neither
hang from ceilings nor clutter
floors with snakeloads of wiring.
The electrical mains for each
workstation bank is run between
the frames of facing stations: a
mesh tray strung between the
vertical supports of the frame
allows installation of sockets in
any location along the length of
the station, with the equipment
plugged-in through the lower
slot of the tack board. Excess
cabling is simply tucked away
from view, into the mesh tray.
