The pittsburgh desk is a multi-
tasking worktop designed for the
loftoffice at the lightwell house.
Made of two layers of tempered
glass held five inches apart on a
mild steel frame, the desk was
conceived with the aesthetics of
freshly milled steel originally
produced in the Pittsburgh mills
of the late Second Industrial
Revolution in the United States.

The top glass sheet is held up
by adjustable stainless steel feet
and allow for the convenient
identification of work and paper
stored in-between. And the
provision of a raw flourescent
bulb beneath the glass worktop
facilitates the act of tracing and
that of viewing transparencies.
With welded joints left in their
ground state of finish, the desk
is a welder’s take on white-
collar corporate furniture, and
a workman’s take on luxury.
