small projects
gardenshade shed
clay brick and laminated glass.
The gardenshade shed was designed to
replace the original which ficus creepers
were not taking very well to. To this end,
half clay brick walls were constructed in
lieu of the glass walls and only the sheet
glass roof and side wall was maintained,
allowing for good daylighting within and
good water flow ot irrigate the existing
creepers on the adjacent wall.
The big idea was to have sunlight drip
into the inner room of the shed in order
for creepers to grow inside as well as
out; a living garden shed of sorts.
In time, the ficus and fallen leaves have
covered the glass roof for shade without
entirely obscuring the sunlight, providing
light for activity and growth and mottled
pools of sun on the shed floor.
